Spring Break Inspiration & Packing Tips

Around this time every year, I start itching to get out of New England and go someplace warm. While I no longer have a designated spring break (savor them while you can!), I couldn't resist putting together a spring break inspiration post.

*Both my sister & I have a Triangl bikini and we have different body shapes, so feel free to ask for any sizing advice! I may do a sizing review post in the future because I wish I had something to reference when I ordered mine.

Additionally, here are some packing tips on what to bring!

Clothes & accessories:
  • Dresses that do double-duty as cover-ups during the day and going out at night
  • Bandeau bikini to ward off tan lines
  • Bikini with straps for more support
  • Bright earrings are easy to throw on and take your cover-ups from day to night
  • A tote for days on the beach and a cross-body bag for nights
  • Maxi dresses = look polished with minimal effort
  • And of course your basic vacation clothes such as pajamas, plane outfit, shorts + a tank to throw on and go, jeans (I love white denim), etc

Sun gear:
  • Sunglasses: Bring an inexpensive back-up pair just in case.
  • Hat: baseball hats are my go-to, but love a classic floppy straw hat.
  • Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
  • Aloe- if you don't need it, someone you're with is bound to.
  • Benadryl/hydrocortisone cream- especially if you're traveling outside the US, you don't want to need this and not have it. I've had an allergic reaction to sunscreen and another time had a reaction to too-strong sun, and had to scramble to find something that would help.
  • Moisturizer- even if you don't burn, your skin may get dehydrated from being out in the sun. Get a leg up on potential flaking/peeling and start moisturizing early
  • On that note, chapstick. The sun can really dry out your lips
Footwear:
  • Sandals to throw on for the beach (love Jacks!)
  • Sturdy heels
  • Wedges
General tips:
  • Make sure you bring all the chargers you need! If you're bringing a camera, check to make sure the memory card is in it and that the battery is fully charged before you leave.
  • I can't be the only one who forgets headphones and has to suffer with the airline freebies. Remember to pack some!
  • If you have prescription medications, check to ensure you'll have enough to last you through your trip
  • Put important things (such as those medications) in your carry-on just in case your luggage gets delayed
  • Pack some warmer clothes to layer if the nights are chilly- you can always wear them on the plane to save space in your suitcase.
  • Accident prone? Tide-To-Go pen.
  • A reusable water bottle is useful to have in the airport and to bring to the beach
  • If you wear contacts, bring an extra pair. There's nothing worse than losing or getting a tear in one and having to squint out of one eye or choose to go blind (not that I know from experience... oops).
  • Make an actual checklist and check it off. Ask someone else to read it over so that you don't miss anything
  • Buy magazines/books beforehand instead of in the airport to save $$
